Five Sentence Fiction- Secure

Word Prompt- Secure

She gazed lovingly at her Mother, held her hand and patted her forehead.

‘ I’m here Mum, it’s going to be ok, you rest, you just rest’

She owed it to her Mother, the women responsible for unwavering love and support, to be present as her body succumbed to the final stages of brain cancer.

Holding her Mother’s hand, in an attempt to make her feel secure and supported,  she whispered over and over words of thanks and praise for the women who had made her everything she was today.

And as the morning sun filled the hospital room with a radiant glow, her words paved the way for her Mother to leave this world with a heart over flowing with love.
