About

“When I got older I decided I wanted to be a real writer. I tried to write about real things. I wanted to describe the world, because to live in an undescribed world was too lonely.” Nicole Krauss, The History of Love, 2005

Whats Catch Up with a Mate all about?  – Click here to find out

Catch Up with a Mate  (CUWAM)  was launched in May, 2011. In June of the same year I committed to one month of re-connecting with friends I held dear… in a cafe, and art gallery, rain forest, a new city…. I documented each  momentous catch up daily, in the hope that I would inspire others to jump on board and create their own catch up days, weekends, months etc

The  blog continued….so inspired by the month of catch ups,  CUWAM was incorporated into daily life…and I write, a little less frequently, about the wonders of friendship, both old and new….and whilst CUWAM will become an annual event each year in June… the joy that true friendship brings to my life  compels me to write and write and write…

So to new people who have stumbled upon this blog in the new year, 2013, here is what you can expect:

  •  Posts about life in the city of Sydney, the catch ups and friendship that continue to flourish, the conversations and the things that inspire…a gallery outing, restaurant, festival, weekend away….
  •  Posts titled ‘ Friendship Firestarters’, small snippets of writing designed to inspire the reader to ignite the friendships in their social circle. I might write about a great restaurant I visited, a play I saw, a beach I swam at…You can find out more by clicking on the category ‘ Friendship Firestarters’
  •  Creative writing piece.I have been part of an  online writing group called ‘ Write on Wednesday’ You can find my contributions by clicking on the category ‘ Write on Wednesday’. I am now contributing to the online writing group ‘ Five Sentence Fiction’…and my weekly posts are found under the category ‘ Writing’
